Powerball Jackpot Leaps to $51 Million; $800,000 Power Play Prize Won!
10/28/2007
(Powerball)  The jackpot in America’s favorite lottery game continues to get bigger and bigger.  Even though the grand prize was not awarded Saturday evening, 1 lucky ticket in Oklahoma matched all 5 white numbers with the Power Play and won a whopping $800,000 cash!  An amazing 7 other winners matched all 5 white numbers for $200,000.  These lucky tickets were purchased in Connecticut (2), Louisiana (2), Minnesota (1), New Mexico (1), and Pennsylvania (1).  In addition, 456,996 tickets across the nation won a total of $6,041,693 in prizes.

Because no one correctly matched all six numbers in Saturday’s drawing the jackpot will grow to an estimated $51 million!

The cash option for the Wednesday, October 31st drawing will be an estimated $24.8 million.

The numbers drawn Saturday night were 13, 25, 30, 40, 43 and the Powerball was 12. The Power Play multiplier was 4.

Other prizes won Saturday evening included twenty-six tickets that matched 4 white numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000.  Seven additional tickets that won at this prize level also wisely purchased the Power Play and had the $10,000 winnings multiplied by 4 to $40,000!

A total of 93,190 winning Powerball tickets multiplied their prizes by 4 Saturday. Players were able to do that by purchasing the Power Play option for one dollar. With Power Play you multiply your Powerball winnings from 2 to 5 times, except for the jackpot. At the beginning of each drawing a wheel is spun to select that night’s multiplier.

Players should carefully check their tickets after every draw. Even if there are no jackpot winners there are always tens of thousands of winners at other prize levels.

Players purchased $19,089,810 in Powerball and Power Play tickets between Thursday and Saturday night.

The lotteries sold more than $2.5 billion in Powerball tickets in FY07. That translates into more than $725 million for worthwhile state projects.

Powerball is now played in 29 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
